Since 2013, B_Tour presented 68 tours in three festivals in Berlin, one in Belgrade, Serbia, and one in Leipzig, Germany, by approx. 100 international and local practitioners and experts of everyday life. As an organisation, in B_Tour we do not primarily develop the tours ourselves but present and connect different practitioners from a verity of fields: architectur, fine art, theater, urbanism and social activism who initiate the tours.
By 2050 66% of the world’s population will be living in urban areas. Today’s urban, individualised, postindustrial societies call for new habitats.
B_Tour, a Berlin based organisation, is a platform for artistic “urban tours”. Artistic urban tours, are not urban tours on art, like tours discussing street art or architectural heritage of a city. Instead the tours are art works in themselves. B_Tours can take different shapes, e. g. performative interventions in public space, audio tours with immersive soundscapes, or psychogeographical explorations.
Nevertheless, the tours always share one common feature: they all utilise the cheapest, most accessible, renewable and effective resource we have to examine the spaces we inhabit: the imagination.
The tours often deal with questions concerning urban life and public spaces, inviting the audience to explore and collectively shape their city.
